National Deworming Day and MOP UP Day Observed by Women Development Cell

On 18 September 2024 the National Deworming Day program was organized at Government College for Women Ambala City. The Women Development Cell of the college organized a health talk. The program was inaugurated by Principal Dr. Khushila who addressed the students about the relevance of the day. The program was aimed at raising awareness about the importance of deworming and providing free deworming medicine to the students especially the first year students. Dr. Nisha Convener of WDC said that worm infection can lead to problems like anemia malnutrition and hampered mental and physical development. These can also affect the absorption of nutrients in children. On 24 September 2024 i.e. Mop Up Day Dr. Harish the staff of Civil Hospital Ambala City was also present to assist in the deworming activities aimed at deworming the youth who had missed the dose on National Deworming Day. Under the supervision of WDC members Dr. Pooja Ms. Gunjan Arora and Dr. Shiwali Sharma 200 students were given deworming medicine by the health centre staff. The programme concluded with a doubt clearing session.
