Nestled in the heart of Ambala (erstwhile Umballa), in proximity of ancient Ambika Devi Temple (after which it has acquired its name), historical Manji Sahib Shrine andĀ country's oldest airbase since 1843 (presently home to IAF's latest war bird Rafale), Government College for Women, Ambala City has catered to the needs of thousands of women students belonging to both the urban and the rural areas of Ambala and Punjab since its inception in 2012-13. It is the first government college for women in Ambala District. The place shares its borders with Punjab and was given the status of district in 1847. Presently being run as a makeshift arrangement in the premises of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Preet Nagar, Ambala City (and going to be shifted soon to its own ten acre building which is under construction) and with women education and empowerment as its soleĀ motto, ours is an institution with available resources and yet unlimited zeal on the part of both the students and the staff who have been working tirelessly so as to bring about all round development of women students from Arts and Commerce stream. Our students have scored well in academics and won positions in various co-curricular activities held at university, zonal, state, district and inter college levels thereby making the institution proud.
